fuckyeahemotionallyvolatilebear:
[Picture shows a background split into a spiral of 8 different colours. Clockwise: light purple, dark brown, dark purple, light brown, dark brown, light purple, light brown, dark purple. In the middle of the picture is a brown bear shown from waist up while standing. The bear’s mouth is wide open and its paws are raised. There is text on the top and bottom. Top text says: “Literary character dies” Bottom text says: “I have lost everyone ever close to me”]

JunI made and submitted these emotionally volatile bear memes, but I doubt that they’ll make it in (she’s pretty swamped ATM), so here you go. :)

JunOrson Scott Card + Lie to Me
Hey, everybody! I came across this very apt review of Lie to Me by one of the greats in science fiction, Orson Scott Card. I was going to quote it, but he says very specifically not to reproduce his work in whole or in part. So, I won’t. I’ll just link you and tell you that if you scroll just past halfway down, you will be rewarded. And then you can go ahead and read the rest of the article, because it’s pretty fantastic.
Here’s that link a third time.
And if you don’t know Orson Scott Card, I’ll tell you that he’s defintely worth checking out. I’m almost done with the eighth book I’ve read by him. I also got to meet him in person once. Plus, he likes Lie to Me. So yeah, he’s pretty cool.
Here’s that link again, just to be safe. The same link.

MayThe first time I tried it, it pegged me as a 66-year-old man. No joke. It was awesome.

EXCEPT, sometimes people pray and get answers.
And sometimes you read a book, live the truth in it, and it improves your life and the lives of those around you. Sometimes you can read something and it will just pierce through you and fill you with a light so powerful that you cannot deny the truth and power of it.
At least that’s what happened to me. I encourage you to try it sometime. You might be surprised. :)
